Bridgeport ~ Jolene “Jody” Cooper, 83, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Bridgeport.
Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14th, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with burial at Cumby Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.
Jody was born on September 13, 1941 to Joe Ben and Oveta R. (Alexander) Whatley in Park Springs. She was united in marriage to Charles T. Cooper on December 31, 1956 in Fort Worth. Jody and Charles dedicated many years of their life leading others to Christ at both Fostepco Heights Baptist Church in Fort Worth and the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport. Jody’s passion for quilting was a reflection of her creativity and warmth, she cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting memories. Jody was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother of 3 generations, sister, aunt, and a friend to many that will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Oveta Whatley; her husband, Charles Cooper; her son, Rickey Thomas Cooper; her sisters, Linda Burris and Bertie Ousley; and her brothers, Tim and Vern Whatley.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Lesley Wayne Cooper and wife Barbara of Aledo, Darla Lanell McCollum of Bridgeport, and Lisa Renee Garcia and husband Mickey of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Dax, Chaney, and Gage Cooper and their mother Lori, Clint Cooper and wife Brittany, Lindsey Cooper, Stacie Whitfield and husband Michael, Kenneth McCollum, Julie Miller and husband Philip, Mikey Garcia and wife Chelsea, Jacob Garcia and wife Adrienne, and Rylee Garcia; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Wallace, Luke Pryor, Samuel Whitfield, Presley, Price, and Parks Cooper, Blaze, Cambria, and Garrett Garcia; her great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Landry Wallace; her sister, Judy Begley and husband Fred; numerous nieces, nephews, and a large host of friends.
