Jon was born December 3, 1954, in Tulia, TX to Jewel and Elen Avent. He graduated from Tulia High School and received his bachelor's degree from West State University in 1978. He married Eve Freeman on February 14, 1990. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2023. Jon was self-employed in oil and gas exploration and operations.
Loved ones include his sister, Susan Busbice; niece, Sara Busbice; nephew, James Avent, grandson, Michael Wooton; three great grandchildren, Avery, Miles and Allison.
Also preceded in death are his parents, brother, Thoran Avent.
Memorials are suggested to South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center-Lubbock or favorite animal rescue charity.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Dean Daniel officiating. Please celebrate the life of Jon by visiting www.sandersfuneralhome.com. A webcast of services will be available as well as our online guest book.
