Jon Huser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Dec. 18, 2025.
Jon H. Huser passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2025, at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family.

Jon was born in Rockford, IL, on August 9, 1942. He spent a portion of his childhood there before moving to the family-founded town of Altdorf, Wisconsin. Jon spent his formative years in the Altdorf area and graduated from Mary Heart High School in Pittsville, WI.

After graduation, Jon served his country for 4 years in the US Navy aboard the USS Daniel Boone. The 1st nuclear submarine assigned to the Pacific Fleet stationed out of San Fransico, CA.

After his release from active duty, Jon worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, out of Milwaukee, WI for a time before pursuing a career in insurance sales.

Jon met the love of his life Jeanette "Jeni" Meddaugh in 1967, and after a brief love filled courtship, they were married on August 2nd, 1969, in the town of Altdorf, WI. After a couple of short years they welcomed their 1st child, Shawn Kendric Huser. 2 ½ years later came their 2nd child Shaen Edmond Huser.

Jon retired from Sentry Insurance after 35 years of employment. He loved to work with and meet new people, making new and lasting friends throughout his career. Jon was known to talk your ear off. He could tell stories and hold conversations for hours on end and loved a good debate.

After retirement Jon & Jeni loved to spend their winters in sunny Boynton Beach, FL. Where they made many lasting memories and friendships. When summering in Wisconsin, they loved to spend time traveling to various casinos and cities throughout the state. They especially loved spending time with their grandson Aiden and watching him grow and attending his many sporting events.

Jon loved to spend time with family and friends. He was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch his favorite teams both in person and on TV. It would be a rare occasion for Jon to miss a Packers, Badgers or Brewers game. He even went as far as traveling to Hawaii to attend the Rose Bowl Game when the Badgers were playing there.

Jon loved to spend time outdoors playing golf, hunting, fishing, boating or just simply hanging out on the patio for a BBQ.

Jon loved his yearly hunting and fishing trips, during which Jeni would always complete a new remodel or construction project to surprise him upon his return. He loved going on fishing trips to lakes and rivers around Wisconsin and Minnesota and going to Canada for giant walleye and pike. Hunting was a passion that took him to Wyoming, Montana and Idaho on many trips for mule deer, antelope or elk. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting trips to North and South Dakota as well as goose and duck hunting in the Horicon Valley.

Jon is survived by his sons Shawn and Shaen Huser, grandson Aiden Huser, brothers Jerome and Joseph (Mary) Huser, Judith Ruffi, Janine (David) Malcolm

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette "Jeni" (Meddaugh) Huser, his parents Herman and Virginia Huser, Neice Yvonne (Malcom) Baratka, nephew Brian Huser, brother James Huser, brother in-law Don Ruffi, and sister in-law Peggy Huser.
