Jon Johnson, a beloved figure in the Cleburne community, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 65, in Walnut Springs, Texas. Born on December 9, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas, Jon filled his years with laughter, love, and cherished memories that will leave an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
For over 30 years, Jon dedicated himself to his work as the co-owner of Motor Tech in Cleburne, where his great sense of humor and vibrant personality made him the life of the party. His passion for people shone brightly, as he loved being surrounded by family and friends. His home was a playground—complete with ponds, four-wheelers, and his pride and joy, a 1962 Comet. Whether camping, traveling, or engaging in spirited conversations, Jon thrived on connection and adventure. His love of fishing and hunting was evident; he often said he had children so he would always have companions to share in these passions.
Jon is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind his loving significant other, Mary Dean; his sons, Dustin Johnson and Jarred Johnson and wife, Loren; step-daughters Melissa Fuentez and husband Michael, and Michelle Bradford; and his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Nia, Raylan, Greyson, and J.D. Johnson, along with Zack and Jonathon Bradford. His mother, Bonnie Averett, and his father, Johnny Johnson, with his wife Darlene, also mourn the loss of their beloved son. Jon is survived by his brothers, Chris and his wife Wanda, and his sisters, Kathy Mercer and her husband Jackie, and Evelyn Nare and her husband Art. He was also deeply devoted to his beloved pets, Clyde, Cinnamon and Lady, whose companionship brought him great comfort and joy.
The family remembers also fondly his close friendships with Sharon and Ronald Mayabb, along with a cherished “Motor Tech Family” that included Gary Graff, Jim Bowes, Lance and Dennis, all of whom played significant roles in his life.
Jon is preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Dawn Johnson, who he fondly remembered throughout his life.
Jon Johnson’s legacy of joy, humor, and profound love for his family and friends will forever live on. He enriched the lives of those around him in immeasurable ways, and his proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his beloved children and grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward.
