Waltraud Monika Kebaso, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2026, in Walnut Springs, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 12, 1947, in Saarbrucken, Germany, Waltraud spent her early years living in Saarbrucken before moving to St. Ingbert, where she attended school and cultivated her passions.
In 1965, she embraced a new chapter of her life when she moved to Texas after marrying her first husband, who was stationed in Germany. Waltraud's life was characterized by her dedication to family, her work ethic, and her vibrant personality. She worked diligently in customer service at the Amfac Hotel and Delta Airlines until her well-deserved retirement.
Waltraud was known for her friendly and nurturing spirit. Her warm demeanor, fun-loving nature, and beautiful smile made her a favorite among family and friends alike. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help others, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Her German accent, which carried echoes of her heritage, was a charming trademark that endeared her to many.
With a profound love for cooking and baking, Waltraud delighted her family with her famous Christmas cookies and lovingly tended to her plants. She cherished spending time with her family and created countless memories that will be treasured forever. Waltraud was proud of her identity, deeply valuing her German roots and the richness they brought to her life.
As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Waltraud's greatest joy came from her family. She was lovingly known as Oma and Omi, titles that embodied the love she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy continues through her husband, Meshack Onsomu; daughters Pamela Skipper and husband Tony, and Stefanie Darter; grandsons Cody Griffin and wife Erika, and Austin Griffin and wife Vashti; granddaughters Macy Skipper, Mackenzie Skipper; and great-grandchildren Addison Griffin, Camden Griffin, Barrett Griffin, and Konrad Griffin. She also leaves behind her sisters, Margit Loftis and Karin Fuchs.
Waltraud's life was well-crafted and organized, mirroring her meticulous nature as she took care of all her paperwork and familial affairs. Her love for keeping in touch with friends on Facebook, as well as her fondness for visits to the casino, spoke to her joyful and adventurous spirit—qualities that will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Emil Hennig, and mother, Karoline Hennig.
The warmth and love that Waltraud shared with those fortunate enough to know her will remain in the hearts of many. The memories of her stubbornness and her willingness to help others will be cherished as a testament to a life lived fully and generously. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Walnut Springs, Texas. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell, Texas.
Waltraud Monika Kebaso's legacy of love and kindness will forever be celebrated, a lasting impact on the lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
