Robert David Bowman, also known as “Bobo” and “Uncle David”, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Saturday, January 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, who have cared for him throughout this journey. Robert was born on February 12, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Elton and Roberta Pipes Bowman. He grew up in Haltom City, the second oldest of three boys. After graduating from Haltom High School in 1971, he immediately enrolled in classes at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1972. Robert enlisted to serve in the United States military in 1973, where he served a combined total of 18 years active duty in the United States Army, United States Army National Reserves, and the Texas National Guard, demonstrating a profound commitment to his country. In 1974, Robert welcomed his son, John Bowman, to the world. During his 30-year career with General Motors Paint Department, he met the love of his life, Geniva Redmon. After two years, working his “magic” and spinning a “fairy tale “story to her, he gave her the wedding of her dreams, a true fairy tale. Robert and Ginny, as he affectionately called her, exchanged vows on New Years Eve, December 31, 1995. Their love story has been described as being much liked the sparks that lit the night skies that New Year’s Eve and sparked an eternal flame that was visible to all who met them. Complete with glass slippers, a foot, dress in tow – up in the carriage they climbed and away they road; spending the next 32 years inseparable. Ginny has said that Robert was her rock, her confidant, her best friend, her hero and the man that made her believe that dreams really do come true. Several years after their wedding, the couple took two little girls under their wings and loved them as their own daughters.

Robert was a gentle, kind and loving soul, known for his talents as a writer, poet and wood craftsman. In retirement, he spent his time alongside his beloved Ginny, crafting, painting and creating treasures for the holidays and other special moments in their children and grandchildren’s lives. They truly believed in making magic memories for those they loved. Christmas was his favorite time of the year, so much so that he spent many years playing Santa Claus, bringing joy to countless children. Robert was also a Halloween enthusiast; collaborating with his brother, Paul, on several haunted houses, both building and playing various character roles. His greatest love of events, was Scarborough. He was a loyal Friends of the Faire pass holder, attending Scarborough Faire every year since it’s first event in 1981, never missing one in that 44-year span. It was something he looked forward to and planned for each year with his family as his side.

Although Robert was a quiet soul, he loved to express himself through his writings and poetry. His talents earned him several winnings of contests and even had some of his works published. He was the Vice President of the Tarrant County Poetry Society in Fort Worth and a member of the Rusk County Poetry Society in Henderson, Texas.

Robert’s love of life, stories and people as well as his warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly by all those who were blessed to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Roberta Pipes Bowman.

Survivors include his beloved canine companion, Zorky; wife of 30 years, Geniva “Ginny” Redmon-Bowman; son, John Bowman & Beth; daughters, Jaimelee Redmon and Zelma Redmon grandchildren, Zachary Bowman, Amber Bowman, Braylon Redmon, Levi Redmon, and Zellabee Redmon Charles; brothers, Westley Bowman and Paul Bowman & his wife, Debbie; brother-in-law, James Redmon; nephew, Derek Bowman & his wife, Tracey; nieces, Kezia Mathis & her husband, Jeremy, and Sabrina Rice & her husband, Jay; seven great-nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
