Jon Robert Peske

Jon Robert Peske, age 84, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was born July 3, 1940, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Eileen Bordeaux and Robert Peske. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Terry and Patrick, and his son, Kevin. He is survived by his son, Brandon (Lana), his granddaughter, Kaitlyn, his two brothers, Michael and Joseph, grandson Ryan his great-grandson, Kaloway, and his close friend, Debra Haren. Jon graduated from the University of Akron with a Master of Arts in English and retired from there as an Emeritus English professor who taught literature, composition, and technical writing. His greatest gifts as an instructor were to encourage students to think critically and to ask questions. He was an avid reader and a writer who published the novel Cage of Human Hearts and other short literary pieces. He had many interests: kayaking and hiking with his sons, gardening, watching the hummingbirds in the backyard, and perfecting his skill in calligraphy. Jon was also a lover of jazz and blues music, good food, and his many dogs: Rastar, Oscar, Dar, Loco, and Gizmo. Those who knew him well appreciated his quirky sense of humor and his low stress, serene approach to life. With a cup of coffee in his hand and a pipe, he believed in fairness and equality and sought the truth. While his home was a sanctuary, Jon enjoyed travelling to Mexico and to Germany, drinking beer and visiting castles. Jon will long be remembered for his inquisitive nature and his strong ethics. He will be missed greatly
