Theresa Ann Plappert aka MT (Mother Theresa), 63, shuffled off this mortal coil with grit and a few choice words on September 8th, 2025.
She was born June 21st, 1962 to Gene and Joan Serri. Theresa graduated with her BSN from the University of Akron and served as a Registered Nurse for over 35 years. Taking care of others was not just her profession-it was her lifestyle.
MT loved playing with her pets outside, advocating, feeding the masses, yelling at the TV while watching sports, learning everything (medically) about a person, and being a mom.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Serri (Beth), and her long-distance cousin, John Troglio (Warbucks).
Theresa is lovingly survived by her two boys, Dan (wheelchair) and Luke (legs); her parents, Gene and Joan; and her siblings, Geno (Margie), Doreen (Keith), and Tina (Joe), along with all of their families. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Tori (Gambit and Zuni). Lastly, she leaves behind all of Dan’s rants about fantasy football (Kyle Pitts).
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who supported her over the past year-especially her favorite nurse, Mindy Carson and her personal chef/baker, Brittany Michael.
Calling hours will be at Newcomer Funeral Home on 9/20/25 from 12-3 pm.
The official retirement party will be on her birthday weekend (next year), 6/20/26 at St. George Fellowship Centre catered by TLC Catering, Inc.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor MT by doing what she cherished most:
· Spend time with your loved ones
· Read the menu out loud at a restaurant
· Listen to Bruce Springsteen or David Bowie
· Bake cookies or make soup
· Educate yourself on new things
· Say, “See you later alligator”
· Watch a bad music biopic (Bohemian Rhapsody)
· Enjoy a baseball game
· Drink a mule or Hoppin’ Frog beer on a patio
· Go to your medical appointments
· Fix something with the help of a YouTube video
· Most importantly, take care of each other
If you’ve made it this far enjoy a clip from one of her favorite movies, Patch Adams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgXa6Jp_wXY
