Jon M. Philley, 75, of Oxford, died on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Born in Binghamton, NY on April 22, 1949, Jon was a son of the late Theron and Marion (Bump) Philley. During his years growing up in Windsor, Jon served as an altar boy in the Episcopal Church. Following his graduation from Windsor High School in 1967, he enlisted in the Air Force serving one tour in Vietnam before his honorable discharge. After his time in the service, Jon worked at Pennys in Glens Falls, NY before returning to Windsor, NY to open his own service station where he worked as a mechanic and reveled in all things dealing with engines. He was a talented artist favoring both drawing and painting. After moving to Oxford, he especially enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans at the America Legion.
Jon is survived by his son, Jon Philley, of Florida; siblings, Jane Robertson, of Unadilla, NY and Frederic (Ruth) Philley, of Key Largo, FL; nieces, Taryn, Beth, Teri, Geri, Amy, and Melissa; nephews, Robbie and Tom; as well as friends, Tom Dreyer, Devon Edwards, Norell Bates, Rick Blythe and neighbor, Beth. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Thomas Robertson.
Jon will be buried in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor, NY in May, 2025 at date to be determined by the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
