Jonathan Clinton Baggett

Mr. Jonathan Clinton Baggett, age 61, of Plainville, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Jonathan was born in Ankara, Turkey, on November 20, 1963, son of the late Donald Edwin Baggett and the late Sandra Holsomback Baggett. Jonathan grew up as Air Force brat in Turkey, Florida, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, Mississippi, and Michigan before his father retired to Lindale, Georgia. Jonathan graduated from Pepperell High School, class of 1983. He graduated the Police Academy in 1987 and attended Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in 2018. Jonathan worked at Berry College Police Department from 1987 until 1997, Adairsville Police Department from 1998 until 2002, and Berry College Police Department from 2002 until his retirement, as Chief of Police in 2021. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Jonathan loved going to the beach and was an avid camper. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Jonathan was a loving husband, father, Paw-Paw, and friend; he will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Leisa Withrow Baggett; daughters, Caitlin Allen (Chase), and Sandra Holderfield (Chris); brother, Jeff Baggett (Tina); uncle, Melvin Holsomback (Veronica); grandsons, Bodie James Allen and Jonathan Barkley Holderfield; several nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 1:00pm until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00pm at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, with Pastor Mac McCurry, Pastor Bob Agan, and Pastor Shane Parrott officiating. Interment will follow at Oostanaula Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are asked to assemble at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 1:30pm and include: Mike Jones, Jason Kellett, Anthony Loveless, David Bohannan, Bobby Abrams, and TK Couey.
Honorary pallbearers are, Berry College Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff's Department, Floyd County Police Department, Adairsville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
Flowers will be accepted.
