Jonathan Bryant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Jonathan Eugene Bryant, affectionately known as "Jroc" and "Boot," age 42, passed away on December 30, 2025, in Greenville, North Carolina. He was a resident of Tarboro, North Carolina.

Jonathan was born on October 29, 1983, in Durham, North Carolina, to Sheila Grey Savage Lewis and Elton Eugene "Gene" Bryant, who preceded him in death.

Jonathan is survived by his beloved children, Leah Arnold, Jaslyn Bryant, Jonathan Bryant, and Allanah Bryant. He was preceded in death by his son, Jaylian Bryant.

He is also survived by his mother, Sheila Grey Savage Lewis; step-father, Wayne Lewis; his sister, Amber Soria Smith, and her husband, Kevin Smith; his aunts, Deborah Underhill, Susan Hall, Judy Boyd, and Kathy Bryant; and his uncles, Edgar Savage (Betty Savage), Curtis Savage, William Bryant, Steven Bryant, and Robert Bryant. He is further survived by his cousins, Brandon Savage, Chris Savage, and Corie Miller (husband Tyler Miller); and his nephews, John Luke Smith and Alex Smith.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lillian Faye Peele and Edgar Long Savage; his paternal grandparents, William Elton Bryant and Sudie Harmon Bryant; and his aunt, Gwen Stancil. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Jonathan was a free spirit, known for not staying in one place too long and always following his own path. He was straightforward and honest, never afraid to say what was on his mind. Jonathan loved to hunt, enjoyed being the life of the party, and had a presence that filled the room. His personality and spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

A Visitation and Viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at Carlisle Funeral Home, with graveside services to follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Pastor Johnny Hendricks.

A young soul gone too soon, Jonathan will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
