Jonathan Chasing Hawk

Funeral services for Jonathan Chasing Hawk, 37, of Ft. Yates will be at 11 AM, Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Little Eagle Blue Gym. Burial will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Family and friends will leave at 4 PM Thursday for a 5 PM visitation with a prayer service at 7 PM at the gym. Jonathan passed away Monday July 3, 2023 in Ft. Yates. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Jonathan Julian "Finner's" Chasing Hawk was born on January 27, 1986, to Diane Kills Crow and Lemar Chasing Hawk. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Dale and Mary Rose Weasel. He attended Little Eagle Day School throughout grade school. He was a part of the class of 2004 at Mille Lacs Academy in Onamia, MN. He was also named valedictorian. Jonathan was a very humble, kind, and hardworking man. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. When his favorite uncle and aunt, Dale and Julie Weasel, were sickly, he was always there for support. He had lots of friends in the surrounding communities who he loved to visit and play dice with. When Aunt Nina used to raise funds for Little Eagles' annual powwow, Jonathan was always there to help. He will be greatly missed, especially his crazy energetic soul.
Jonathan is survived by his father, Lemar Chasing Hawk, sisters; Marjorie Kills Crow, Ernestine Chasing Hawk, Tonya Kills Crow, Jennifer Weasel, Christian Brave Bird, and Chloe Weasel. His brothers Kenny Chasing Hawk, Ira Weasel, Inyan Weasel, Zoey Weasel, and Zeb Weasel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Kills Crow, and brothers, Winfield Chasing Hawk and Clyde Weasel. Sisters, Tiffany Red Legs, Cheyenne Weasel, Ellen Weasel, Frankie Iron Cloud. Grandparents Sybil and John Foster, Arnold Kills Crow and Rachel Foster, Rita Bear Ribs. Aunts Julie Weasel and Mary Rose Weasel, and Uncle Dale Weasel.
