Jonathan Rufus Higginbotham, affectionately known as J.R., passed away on June 9, 2024, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 35. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to John Higginbotham and Melanie Lamb.
J.R. had a profound passion for music, finding joy in playing the guitar and drumming in the park downtown Eureka Springs. He was known for his generous spirit, always eager to help and serve others. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed kayaking, camping, hiking, and spending time on the lakes and rivers. J.R. also had a love for cooking and dreamed of attending culinary school. He had a great love for dogs, horses, and all animals. Above all, he cherished his family, friends, and especially his son, Skylar.
J.R. was a beloved son, brother, father, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be missed beyond measure and forever cherished deep within the hearts of those who loved him.
J.R. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rufus and Mary Helen Higginbotham; great-grandparents, Eddie and Ruby Heater, Grover and Dean Allen; great-great grandparents William and Mary Parks, Earl and Edna Higginbotham, Melvin and Willidine Hogan, and Ben and Ida Hale.
