Jonathan W. McDevitt of Westville, NJ passed away on October 15th, 2024 at the age of 59.
Born to the late John and Eileen (nee Dayton) McDevitt on October 30th, 1964, in Camden, New Jersey. Jon was raised in Glendora, NJ, along with his beloved sisters Jacqueline (Richard) Styk and Janice (Andrew) Jankowski, as well as his late brothers, John and Gerald McDevitt. Jon graduated from Triton Regional High School in 1984.
Jon's life took on a whole new meaning when he met his beloved wife, Daryl McDevitt (nee MacMullin). The pair went on to marry on May 23rd, 1992. Jon and Daryl shared their love by welcoming their two loving daughters, Kayleigh (Brian) McDevitt Kutza and Lauren McDevitt. As a family, they spent summers down the shore, shared large meals together and had countless movie nights, including his favorite genre, history/war movies. Jon bought Flyers tickets for the Opening Game this season to take his daughter Lauren to see Matvei Michkov's first game at the Wells Fargo Center. His daughters Lauren and Kayleigh will be going in his honor since he wouldn't have wanted them to miss it, and they know he will be there with them in spirit. Spending time with his family was one of the most important things to Jon. He was his daughters' #1 fan all throughout their lives in sports and school. His family will always remember the smile on his face when he found out he was having a grandson, Bryson Kutza, whom he was always spoiling and bragging about to his coworkers and friends. Jon will also be missed by his extended family and many friends he met throughout his life.
When Jon was not spending time with his family, he was attending concerts with his lifelong friends, playing one of his many guitars, surf fishing, or watching the Flyers, Eagles, Phillies, and other sports.
Jon will be remembered fondly for the love he had for his family, progressive rock music, and scotch whiskey.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jon's name to Ed Snider's Youth Hockey & Education to create opportunities for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jonathan's viewing on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, from 10am - 12pm at McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ, 08096, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 12pm. Burial will take place immediately following the Ceremony at Woodbury Memorial Park in West Deptford, NJ.
