Donna Chojnowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gardner Funeral Home, Runnemede on Feb. 24, 2026.
Donna Chojnowski passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pensacola, Florida and currently residing in Cape May Court House, NJ, Donna was born to the late John and Dolores (nee Kawczynski) Chojnowski on November 21, 1955.

Donna was full of life and always made her presence known. She loved the beach and her Saturday night "Get Down, Get Down" dance parties. Donna loved playing cards, LCR with family and was known to enjoy Bingo; especially when she won. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family, most notably her precious grandbabies.

Donna would say things like; "Don't be sad, Get Down" and in the Summer her quote was "Time for the beach". Her best days were her beach days which she would rate "10 out of 10".

Donna graduated from Triton Regional High School, class of 1974. After graduation she started her career in banking. She was in Corporate Trust for nearly 50 years. She graduated with honors from Cannon School and was a Certified Corporate Trust Specialist.

Donna was loud, a bit crazy, loving and funny! She was who she was, and what you saw is what you got. She was known for making people smile, laugh or shake their head with the things that would come out of her mouth. If you went to her asking for advice or just to listen, you knew she would do just that. She was a great listener and a better secret holder, whatever you said to her in confidence, it'd never be repeated. One of the most loyal people you'd ever know.

Beloved mother of Jennifer Smarrito, Darlene Bowe, Corinne Bowe (Pat), and William "Billy" Jefferson III. Cherished Sister of Christine Herman (Daniel) and Cynthia Kurz (Donald Jr.) Beloved Mum-Mum of Alexandria Smarrito, Liam, Nicholas, Mikayla, and Joseph Toman, James and Matthew Altomari. Donna was also an adored aunt, cousin and niece to many. Donna will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her; her spirit will live on in her children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend Donna's visitation on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME located at 126 South Black Horse Pike, Runnemede, NJ 08031. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am. Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery and Mausoleum located at 240 Lower Landing Rd., Chews Landing NJ 08012.
