Emily Taylor Prather (née Rost), age 29, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 3, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emily grew up in the area before moving to Bellmawr, NJ, during her teenage years. She later settled in Blackwood, NJ, with her husband, where they built a loving and memorable life together. Emily was a proud Triton Regional High School graduate, Class of 2015. She worked at Tutor Time in Sewell, as well as several other daycares and diners throughout her life. Emily truly loved her work, especially with children-she had a special gift for making every child feel loved, safe, and understood. Her warmth and compassion touched the hearts of every family she met, and she was deeply loved by her coworkers and friends. Emily is survived by her loving husband, Kyle Prather; her parents, Susan (Jim) and Stephen (Kim); her brothers, Stephen (Meghan) and Alex (Nicole); and her parents-in-law, Jerald and Claudette Prather. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law Josh, Dom (Cristina), and Tyrell; her sisters-in-law Chantelle (Dantai) and Zainab; as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family who brought her so much joy. Emily also cherished her best friends, whose love and support meant the world to her. Though Emily and Kyle did not have children, she cared for and nurtured hundreds through her work and her heart-every child she met became a part of her extended family. She gave her love freely and made the world brighter through her kindness, laughter, and strength. Emily's beautiful soul, sense of humor, and caring nature will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her. She is now reunited with her dog and her grandfathers, who both meant so much to her. There will be a viewing on from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, November 10, 2025 and 10am to 11am on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral service 11am on Tuesday, November 11, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 240 Lower Landing Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012 Memorial contributions may be made in Emily's memory to the Cardiac Center, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/cardiac-center to support ongoing pediatric heart research and care.
