Jonathan Thorpe Miller, 69 years old, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at his residence in South Bend.
Jonathan was born on March 14, 1956 to the late Donald and Anne (Costello) Miller. Jonathan is also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Miller; and brothers-in-law, Walter Stahl and Bruce Stahl.
Jonathan is survived by the love of his life for 38 years, Deb (Stahl) Miller; grandson, Kenneth Miller; step-daughter, Michele Miller; brother, Cal (Barb) Miller; sister-in-law, Shirley Brock; and his best friend, Rusty.
Jonathan served as a Purchasing Manager and stage-hand at the Morris Performing Arts Center, combining his professional expertise with his lifelong love of music and performance. A talented drummer for over 35 years, he played in several bands and built his own drums, speakers, and sound equipment from scratch-always finding a way to create something out of nothing. His hands were always busy with restoration projects, and his mind was forever dreaming up new ideas. An Eagle Scout and longtime Scout counselor, Jonathan carried the values of service, patience, and quiet leadership throughout his life.
He shared 42 beautiful years with his wife Deb, including 38 years of marriage marked by mutual respect, laughter, and deep friendship. They were inseparable-true partners in every sense-who never argued and shared an unspoken understanding. Jonathan was especially attuned to Deb's emotions and needs, embodying the phrase "dynamite comes in small packages" with his steady, powerful presence. His grandson Kenneth held a special place in his heart, more like a son than a grandson, and Jonathan's love for him was boundless.
Jonathan will be remembered not only for his talents and kindness but for the peace he brought to those around him. He truly couldn't have been a better spouse, father figure, or friend.
The family would like to thank Keith and Dee Allison for all of their prayers during this time. They would also like to thank Wes England for the beautiful photo taken of Jonathan.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jonathan held at a later date. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
