Jonathan Shannon Lamar Long Obituary

Mr. Jonathan Shannon Lamar "Hova" Long, age thirty-seven, departed this life and entered into eternal rest Friday, October 11, 2024 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
"Hova" was a graduate of Person Senior High School's Class of 2005 and a member of the House of Prayer Ministries Church of God in Christ in Roxboro.
He loved playing video games and his favorites were Call of Duty and Dragon Ball Z where his favorite character was Vegeta. His favorite football team was the Carolina Panthers and he enjoyed watching World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Hova loved cookouts and especially being with and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jasper Long; and his grandfather, Henry Long.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his mother, Laverne Long of the home; three siblings: Shawn Long, Kawana Long and Jamel Long, all of Roxboro, North Carolina; his grandmother, Sallie Long of Bronx, New York; two uncles: Dwayne Long (Chris) of Manhattan, New York and Darrel Long (Vicky) of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00pm at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home, with the Reverend Clyde A. Glass, Pastor at Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1780 Zion Level Church Road, Semora, North Carolina 27343. His body will lie in state Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at the home, 3374 Boston Road in Roxboro 27573.
