Rev. Jonathan Smith was born on August 9th, 1981, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Roy Smith and Priscilla Martinez. He attended Texas schools and graduated in 2000. He married his true love, Jolyn (Gonzales) Smith, on September 3rd, 2005, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was loved by his family and many people. He was surrounded by our families throughout the whole day. In the afternoon we sang hymns and one of his favorite songs, "I Trust in God". But late on January 4th, 2025, at 11:44PM, He entered the glory of Heaven with his wife and sister-in-law by his side.
Jonathan was a young boy who loved life and playing or teasing his younger sisters Kara and Kala. He loved his family, and playing video games, watching movies, playing football and wrestling with his son Caleb. At the age of sixteen, Jonathan committed his heart to the Lord and faithfully began to pursue his Christian-walk at Harvest Temple Church in Grand Prairie Texas. Jonathan gladly served wherever there was a need, most notably as a Royal Ranger Commander, and as an Armor Bearer.
In 2004 Jonathan met Jolyn and they fell in love and they were married in 2005. An instant family was formed when his fun-loving son, Caleb Rios-Smith, joined their home at the age of six. Together, they all began working for the Lord, leading a team in the Evangelism Outreach Ministry. It was during this time that the calling of the Lord grew stronger in Jonathan's heart, which led him to pursue a degree in religious education and Christian counseling. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2008 and was on course to complete his Masters Degree. His calling led them to ministry in Arlington, Texas for a time and begin a ministry out of their home called Eternal Praise Fellowship/Outreach.
Jonathan served as an Associate Pastor at Joint Heirs Church, Mt. Horeb Church and, at the King's House Christian Center- where he was groomed in Deliverance, preached and taught the Word of God, and helped coordinate outreaches. In 2013 the family ministered together in the Victory Outreach Men's Home. In 2014 they became members of Gospel Lighthouse Church and were part of the Altar Ministry Team, Growth Group Teachers, and the Cleansing Stream ministry.
Most recently Jonathan served as Lead Pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Greeley, Colorado. They became the lead pastors in January 2022 and greatly enjoyed serving the community and had a heart to reach the lost in the surrounding areas.
Jonathan loved cooking, grilling, making salsa, movies, community outreach and especially enjoyed his short employment at Franklin Middle School.
Jonathan is survived by his loving wife, Jolyn Smith; son, Caleb Rios-Smith; parents, Roy Smith and Priscilla Ramirez; sisters, Kara Martinez, and Kala Sue-Dorris; and a large loving extended family.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Greeley First Assembly of God, 3000 16th St. in Greeley, Colorado 80634 on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00am.

Pastor Jonathan had a vision to feed students. A Friend, Ms. Yolanda, came to share in the vision. So, he had a big smile grilling hamburgers every Friday - he made a personal invitation to Franklin kids to come on down! Glad Tidings Church! Vision for students!
