Jonathon Michael Keister

Jonathon Michael Keister was born on December 16, 1986, in Monroe, Michigan. He was the son of Christopher and Mary (Poley) Keister. He attended Gibraltar Schools, and then went on to Monroe High School.
Jonathon was employed by a recycling company in Dundee. He then went on to do work with his father doing roofing, framing, and siding until his father retired. At that time, he took up being a great mechanic, working on all types of vehicles- but not for a shop. He did all the work himself at home or wherever someone might be broken down. Mostly his work was for family and friends, but rest assured that if someone saw him working on a vehicle and stopped asked about theirs, he would say, "Let me take a look at it." If he could fix it, he would tell them to bring it by and he would do his best to help them out. No matter what other people needed, he was always there to lend a helping hand.
Jonathon loved being around family and friends. He loved camping, hiking, exploring new places, and riding bikes with his parents and children. He loved taking long trips up to the lake in the summer. He was a talented artist with many drawings. He enjoyed all the time he had with his children, as they were the light in his eyes. Watching them grow and seeing all of their accomplishments was his joy for they were the biggest part of him. He was a kind and gentle soul whose love ran deep.
There was not a day that went by where he wouldn't pick up his phone, just to call and say that he loved you. He wore his heart and passion on his sleeve for all the world to see. He always had a smile on his face, always telling jokes, just to bring joy and a smile to someone else's face. He loved music, no matter the type.
Jonathon Michael Keister, age 38, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, November 21, 2025. His passing was preceded by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving parents: Christopher and Mary Keister of Monroe; four brothers: Jeremiah Keister of Monroe, Benjamin and Lacey (Casto) Keister of Newport, Anthony and Connie (Cosby) Keister of Monroe, and Christopher and Shanyle (Anteau) Keister of Monroe; a step-brother: Bradley Graybell of Monroe; his four beautiful children: Xavier Yount of Detroit, Anthony Pope of Monroe, Sophia Keister of Monroe, and Eli Keister of Monroe; countless aunts and uncles; and multiple cousins and friends.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Tuesday; December 2, 2025, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 4:00pm, also at Merkle's with Pastor BJ McDaniel of One Way Christian Fellowship officiating. Cremation will follow through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
