Jonathon Edward Morgan

Jonathon Edward Morgan, 43, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of service, creativity, and deep devotion to both his faith and his loved ones.

Born on September 30, 1981, in North Carolina, Jonathon was the beloved son of Steven Morgan and Lorrayne West. He proudly called Portsmouth home with his loving wife of 5 years, Jennifer Morgan.

A man of incredible versatility and drive, Jonathon served in the United States Navy for 12 years before pursuing higher education at Regent University, where he studied religion and leadership. His faith played a guiding role in his life, and he was a dedicated member of Reignite Church.

Following his military service and academic achievements, Jonathon entered Civil Service, where he built strong bonds with colleagues and became known for his integrity, intelligence, and relentless work ethic. If something was broken, be it a car engine, a piece of furniture, or someone's spirit, Jonathon could fix it. He had a mind for engineering and a heart for helping.

Jonathon was a lifelong fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and rooted hard for the Washington Commanders (and just as passionately rooted against the Cowboys). He also had a playful, imaginative side. He loved building complex creations from Legos and was a huge fan of Iron Man, a fitting hero for a man who never stopped trying to better himself and protect those he loved.

He was also a registered LifeNet Health donor, a final act of generosity in keeping with the way he lived his life: giving, selfless, and always thinking of others.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jennifer Morgan of Portsmouth; his mother Lorrayne West; children Steven Morgan and Hannabella Morgan; and countless friends, coworkers, and chosen family who were touched by his laughter, loyalty, and strength.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16th, 2025 at 10:00am at Altmeyer Funeral Home 5033 Southside Chapel.
