Jonna Ditto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boren-Conner Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Dec. 23, 2025.
Jonna Ditto, 61, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away on the morning of December 11 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jonna dedicated her entire career to teaching, a calling she embraced with passion, patience, and a genuine love for helping others learn. She was also a gifted musician whose life was deeply shaped by music. She especially loved the French horn and percussion, and she shared that love generously with her students, colleagues, and anyone fortunate enough to hear her play. Music was not just a hobby for her-it was a source of joy, expression, and connection.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Ditto, and her mother, Anna Smith.

Jonna is survived by her brother, Doug Ditto; her stepfather, Robert Smith; her stepbrother, Brad Smith; her stepsister, Molly Smith; and numerous cousins who loved her dearly.

A small graveside service will be held with immediate family near her childhood home of Rogersville, MO.

Jonna will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Her kindness, her devotion to teaching, and the music she brought into the world will continue to echo in the lives she touched.

Jonna was a friend of mine all through school at UNT and beyond. I went to her schools frequently to clinic her clarinets and was always touched by how her students respected her. This is definitely a loss for me. Rest easy my friend.

Rest in peace dear friend.

I wish I could have been by your side. I'm grateful for the years we had and wish we hadn't been separated by distance as our careers took us different paths. Your friendship is something I will always treasure. Godspeed.

I am so glad Jonna was my friend for 43 years. We shared music, movies, birding, and long philosophical conversations. I rejoice for these memories. And, one of Jonna's favorites, Go Lady Bears!
