Jonnie Lee Craig, aged 80, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born on August 17, 1945, in Stratford, Oklahoma, to Robert Samuel Craig, Jr. and Verl White.
Jon is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his son Benjamin, wife Stephanie and grandchildren Nathaniel and Natalie; his son Daniel, wife Kaycie, and grandchildren Ava and Aubrey, and husband Jacob; his stepson Nathan, wife Nicole, and grandchildren Parker and Logan; stepdaughter Emily, husband Matthew and granddaughter Willa; sisters Joyce and Sharon, and husband Bill; sister-in-law Mary; cousin Gary White; and many other beloved family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Craig.
Jon graduated with a B.S. from East Central State College in 1967 and went on to earn a Master's in Environmental Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1975. He dedicated many years of service to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, spending the majority of his career as the Director of the Water Quality Division. Jon was widely respected for his leadership and expertise, participating in numerous professional organizations and receiving many awards and recognitions for his contributions to the protection and stewardship of Oklahoma's natural resources.
Beyond his professional life, Jon was a passionate historian. His curiosity, love of learning, and deep appreciation for history were constant throughout his life. Jon will be remembered for his dedication to family, his commitment to public service, and his lifelong pursuit of knowledge. His legacy lives on in the many people he influenced and the family and friends he deeply loved.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Soldier Creek Baptist Church, 9020 S.E. 15th Street, Midwest City, OK.
