Jorge Luis "Kike'" Chaparro, 81 of Harwood Heights, at rest January 31, 2025. Beloved husband of Juanita "Jenny" Santoyo Chaparro for over 60 years; loving father of Antonio L. Chaparro, Marie I Chaparro, Vicki A. (Roberto) Rios, George N. (Anthi) Chaparro and Monica M. (Daniel) Chaparro; cherished grandpa of Robert E. (Nilsa) Ortiz, Noah A. Chaparro-Duran, and proud Papa to Alexandra R. Chaparro; great-grandpa of Emilianys D. Ventura; dear brother of Gilberto and Siliva Chaparro; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and friend to countless others. Jorge was preceded in death by his parents Luis Victor Chaparro and Maria Ines Vazques; and his siblings Elliott, Nelson, Reinaldo and Hector.
Jorge moved from Puerto Rico to Chicago at 16 years old. Later, he met his loving wife, Juanita, when, as a small toddler, Antonio randomly chose to run into his arms while out with Juanita. Tony's siblings always credit him for introducing their parents and choosing the best father for them all. Jorge loved and lived for his family and did everything he could to ensure that he provided for his wife and children. He and his wife saved and sacrificed to buy their young family a home on West Hirsch Street in Chicago. There, he was an active member of the neighborhood for over 50 years. The Chaparro family home was always a gathering place and safe haven for all of his children's friends; he regarded them as his children, too. A few of them actually resided in the home when they had no place else to go. Jorge was also a member of Maternity BVM Church in Chicago and volunteered there as often as possible. Jorge was especially proud to have spent most of his adult life working for the Finzer Roller company. Not long after retiring from Finzer Roller, Jorge and Juanita moved to Harwood Heights, IL to live closer to their children.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 4-8pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue,
Chicago, IL 60646. Funeral Service Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10am. Interment at Maryhill Cemetery, 8600 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, IL 60714.
