Jorge Luis Flecha

Thank you for joining us as we come together to celebrate the life of Jorge Luis Flecha
Five years ago, today on February 20, 2018 the Lord called home our dad Felix Alberto Mateo, and now Jorge will be laid near him.
Jorge, how can I even begin to thank you for all the things that I learned from you:
You were thrown into a role of caretaker to all of us at the young age of 6 years old when our biological father left us. It must have been hard to care for and watch over 4 of your younger siblings ranging from 5 to 1 year of age. I think I received more whipping from you than from mom but who's counting.
You were my protector, my mentor, my advisor, you were my mechanic and taught me how to check things, so no one would take advantage of your little sister. You taught me how to be independent, a problem solver because those are the things you had to learn to survive.
You joined the army and served our country, you were a husband, father, grandfather, a warrior fighting a physical battle that would slowly steal your ability to move and communicate with us. But it couldn't steal your ability to smile at us every morning. Only God knows the pain that riddled your body, but when asked you always say that you were ok.
Jorge, you taught me that even in the middle of life's storm you can find peace, humility, and resolution. As you often would say "oh well shit happens". Now move on.
I love you Pa, thank you for the opportunity of becoming your caretaker and watching over your needs during your most difficult times. I will always cherish those moments. You will forever be in my heart. It was a pleasure and an honor to serve you.
Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near so loved, so missed, so very dear.
My family and I would like to personally thank all the Home-Based Care, Respiratory Therapist, and Hospice workers that have dedicated their lives to helping others. Your care and compassion to Jorge and our family is immeasurable.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free; I'm following the path that's laid for me. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. And if my parting has left a void. Then fill it always with remembered joy. Lift up your heart and share with me, From earthly bounds, I now am free.
