Jorge Jimenez passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2025, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with heart failure.
He was born in Mexico City on April 23, 1941. During his adolescent years, he moved to Los Angeles, where he attended Roosevelt High School and graduated with the class of 1960. While in high school, he balanced work with being a member of the track and field team. He would eventually become a butcher by trade.
Jorge was a devoted husband who cherished his wife deeply. He was a loving and affectionate father to his two children and a doting grandfather, always expressing his profound love and dedication to his family. A man of faith, Jorge was a devout Catholic, drawing strength and inner resolve from his beliefs as he steadily stood by his family throughout the years.
Aside from family and work, Jorge had a variety of interests. Those included an appreciation for music which he collected and often played at home or in the car. He found joy in singing along with his beautiful voice. His musical background included playing the piano as a child. Besides music, Jorge loved movies and enjoyed going out to the cinema or enjoying them at home. Jorge was also an avid reader who collected books and especially enjoyed spy novels, with Ken Follett being his favorite author.
Most of all, Jorge loved sports and was an enthusiast of a wide variety of them. His main interest was the LA Dodgers. He was a loyal fan who regularly attended games, watched them on TV, or listened to their broadcasts on the radio.
Jorge was a warm and social man whose friendliness made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him remember him as a friendly, kind hearted and gentle soul with an unforgettable sense of humor. The word "sweet" is often used to describe him.
Jorge is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Elia, his daughter Alina, his son George Jimenez (David Miler), granddaughter Jacqueline, his mother Esther, and his sisters Esther and Patricia.
He is preceded in death by his older sister Eloisa Garcia, and his younger brother Alejandro Jimenez.
May Jorge Jimenez rest in eternal peace. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jorge, please visit our floral store.
