Jose Enrique Alicea Ortiz, 75, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away April 9, 2024, in Lake Wales Lake Wales, Florida. He was born on May 9, 1948, in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico to Joaquin Alicea and Fernanda Ortiz.
Jose was a clerk of the Department of Finance for 25 years. He had a strong passion for Christ and raised a Christ centered family. He always loved to see his family worship and serve the Lord. Jose was well known for his green thumb, and it showed by his love and time he spent gardening. He would always share his crops with his neighbors. When he wasn't gardening, he was reading his bible. Jose loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. He was very respected as an elder of the church. Even in his final days, he would bless his children and asked God to take care of them wherever they went. Our family will forever miss Jose, but the memory of him will always be in our hearts.
Jose is survived by his loving wife Irma Hernandez, Winter Haven, FL., daughter Irma I. Alicea, Winter Haven, FL., son Jose A. Alicea, Kissimmee, FL., daughter Ruth N. Alicea, Auburndale, FL., granddaughters Kristal M. Alicea, Kissimmee, Fl., and Anaiz M. Benitez, Winter Haven, FL.,
He was preceded in death by his mother Fernanda Ortiz, Vega Alta, Puerto Rico and father Joaquin Alicea, Vega Alta, Puerto Rico.
The family will receive friends at Kersey Funeral Home on Monday April 15th from 6 PM - 7 PM. Funeral services will be at Kersey Funeral Home on Monday April 15th at 7 PM.
