DEFIANCE - Jose "Joe" Rosendo Arreguin, age 74 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Defiance.
Jose was born on March 1, 1951, to the late Jose and Maria (Arqueta) Arreguin Sr. in Edinburg, Texas. Jose was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance AMVETS #1991, VFW #3360 and Eagles #372. Jose dedicated 45 distinguished years to General Motors, primarily working as a millwright until his well-earned retirement. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1971-1973. In his earlier years Jose was an avid bowler and a passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Known for his radiant smile and contagious laughter, he had a unique ability to bring joy to any room he entered. A compassionate and loving man, Jose cherished his family above all else. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and lifelong friends who hold his memory close to their hearts.
Jose is survived by his loving children, Christine Arreguin and Kimberly Dockery (significant other Eric Rubio), all of Defiance, and Gabriel (Jamie) Arreguin of Germany, his grandchildren, Mercedes Depew, Cole Dockery (girlfriend Jocylen), Chelsea Dockery and Calee Dockery, and great-grandchildren, Paisley and Jayden Layman and Abel, Charlie and Addy Dockery. He also leaves behind his siblings, Juan Jose "Johnny" Arreguin, Guadalupe Jose Adolpho "Lupe" (Deena) Arreguin, Jose David "David" (Anabel) Arreguin Jr., Mary Jane "Janie" Ordaz (Robert) Arreguin, Raymond Jose "Ray" (Carol) Arreguin, Maria Antonia "Toni" Noriega, Fidel (Angela) Arreguin and Ruben (Valerie) Arreguin, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose David Sr. and Maria Luz Arreguin, and his siblings, Jose Miguel "Mike" Arreguin, Maria Aurora San Miguel, Maria Beatrice Valdez, Amelia Shawber, Jose Roberta Arreguin and Jose Refugo Arreguin.
Visitation for Jose will take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 2-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Jason D'Souza officiating. Following the service, Jose will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
