Jose M. Chano, affectionately known to many as Joe, lived his life with the kind of passion and exuberance that leaves indelible marks on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. Born on February 10, 1943, in the warm and vibrant community of
Corpus Christi, Texas. Joe's journey through life was one of joy, connection, and unwavering dedication to his family. On November 6, 2024, surrounded by the love and warmth of his home in Texas, Joe's story on this earth came to a peaceful close.
Professionally, Joe was an accomplished plumber and pipe fitter, a career that not only showcased his exceptional skills and work ethic but also his deep commitment to his community. His hands helped shape the city he loved, Corpus Christi, "The Sparkling City by the Sea." Joe was a craftsman who took pride in his work, knowing that every pipe laid, and every joint fitted contributed to the growth and prosperity of his hometown.
Joe's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life with both arms. An avid fisherman and hunter, he knew the serene beauty of nature's embrace and the thrill of the chase. His love for his favorite sports teams, the Cowboys and the Longhorns, was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. Joe was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from the scenic mountains to the open wide spaces he so dearly loved.
His affinity for the sea was not just a pastime but a passion. Shrimping and fishing were activities that brought him closer to the water's edge, where he shared laughter, stories, and the tranquility of the ocean with his family. These moments were more than hobbies; they were the threads that wove the fabric of beautiful memories with his loved ones.
The grandchildren in Joe's life were the apples of his eye, his pride, and joy. Each child was a beacon of hope and happiness, a reflection of his boundless love and the continuation of his legacy. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished above all, infusing love and wisdom into every interaction.
Joe's presence was a force of positivity and generosity. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger, whose heart was open to all. His selfless nature was evident in every BBQ he lovingly prepared, every cruise through the streets of Corpus Christi, and in every note of music that filled his home. Joe lived his life as a testament to the power of giving, of being a source of strength and comfort to those around him.
To describe Joe as loving, generous, and selfless barely scratches the surface of the man he was. His legacy is not just in the memories he leaves behind but in the lives he touched and the community he helped build. Through his actions, Joe taught us the importance of embracing each day with enthusiasm, cherishing our loved ones, and always extending a hand of friendship and kindness.
