Obituary of Jose Leroy Chavez
Leroy Chavez, age 75 of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and dear friends, on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
Leroy was a hard worker and was always outside tending his land or working on projects and he loved watching his boys and grandchildren play sports. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories and enjoyed traveling with Irene and their best friends Tony and Velma Gurule, prior to becoming sick.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene Chavez, his sons Joe Chavez (Christina) and Matthew Chavez (Susan), of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Grandchildren Anthony Chavez (Deia), Kyla Chavez, Stephanie Thomas (Danny), Jennifer Hunter (Diondre), Veronica Chavez, Victoria Chavez, Brianna Chavez, and Daniel Chavez (Nicole). Great[1]Grandchildren Max, Jessie, Owen, Ambrose, Logan, Amadeus, Adaline, Evelyn, and Aurelia. Brothers Tercio Chavez, Gilbert Chavez (Maxine), Fidel "Neno" Chavez (Diana) and George Chavez (Rita). Sisters Concepcion "Concha" Candelaria, Rosemary Chavez and Angela Valenzuela (Jose). In-laws Imelda Chavez, Angie Torres (Benji) and Joe Esquibel (Sharon) and several other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Fidel Chavez Sr and Lourdes Chavez. Brothers Natividad and Ricardo Chavez (Socorro), Leon "Leo" Chavez, Brothers-in-Law Leroy Candelaria and Herminio Esquibel and Nephew Lee Chavez, and In-Laws Max G. Esquibel and Esther Esquibel.
Loving gratitude goes out to everyone who offered prayers, called and visited. A very special and heartfelt thank you from Leroy's family to the nurses, PCA's and staff from PCM, who helped care for Leroy day and night for the past several years.
It was Leroy's wish for no services to be held. Your heartfelt prayers and condolences are very much appreciated.
