Chavez Funeral Home - Santa RosaIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and friend, Jose Andalecio (Andy) Cordova III, who left us far too soon on August 13, 2025, at the age of 35.
Born on February 24, 1990, Andy brought warmth, laughter, and light to everyone who knew him. He had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace casting a line by the water, fishing as well as hunting, being some of his favorite passions, which he shared with his dad, Jose Andalecio Cordova. His family was the center of his world, and his devotion to them was evident in every hug, every shared meal, and every moment spent together.
Andy was a devout Catholic who lived his life guided by his faith in God. His values, kindness, and compassion for others were a reflection of his strong spiritual foundation. His faith gave him strength in both joyful and challenging moments, and he shared that light with all who knew him.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting during his college years, where he also joined Omega Delta Phi, Kappa Chapter. There, he formed a lifelong bond with his fraternity brothers—a brotherhood built on shared values, support, and unforgettable memories that remained a cherished part of his life.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit, genuine kindness, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His presence made the world brighter, and his absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled.
Andy is preceded in death by his father, Jose Andalecio “Brody” Cordova, his paternal grandparents, Jose Andalecio Sr. and Vicentita Cordova, maternal great-grandparents, Gilberto and Rita Velasquez, and Jose and Nora Sandoval.
He is survived by his loving mother, Vita Velasquez Hernandez and husband Jose Hernandez, his girlfriend, Sandra Chavez, sister, Ashley Galvan and husband Angel (A.J.) Galvan, nephews Leo, Ayden and Landyn Madrid, grandparents, Antonio and Macky Velasquez, godchildren Jayla Lucero and Leo Madrid, extended family, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A rosary followed by Mass of Christian burial to honor the lives of Andy and his father will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 439 S 3rd St, Santa Rosa, NM 88435. Interment will follow immediately at San Jose Cemetery, with a gathering afterward at the Blue Hole Convention Center.
Family and friends are welcome to join in remembrance and love. In honor of his memory, the family invites all who attend to share stories of the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.
Rest easy, Andy. Your love, light, and laughter will live on in our hearts forever.
