Jose Andalecio “Brody” Cordova, Jr., 70, of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Hereford, Texas surrounded by his loving daughter Ashley and son-in-law Angel.
Jose was born on July 21, 1955, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, to Jose Andalecio Sr. and Vicentita (Barela) Cordova. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1975. Jose worked most of his adult life at Brody’s Auto Paint and Body Shop; he loved his job and was passionate about painting cars. Jose was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, looking for arrowheads, going for Pinon, painting, and drawing. He loved to sing and listened to the 60s, 70s, and Spanish Music. Jose was a jokester, outspoken, caring, and friendly. He had a new nickname for each of his family members, friends, and even new acquaintances. He was known as “Brody” to most and proudly “Papo” to his three grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son Jose Andalecio “Andy” Cordova III of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Ashley Nicole Cordova Galvan and her husband Angel “AJ” of Hereford, Texas; three grandchildren, Leo, Ayden, and Landyn Madrid all of Hereford, Texas; siblings, Beatrice C. Salazar of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Dorothy Romero and her husband Adolfo of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, James “Bozo” Cordova and his wife Anna of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Frances Aguilar and her husband Carlos of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Juanita Tapia and her husband Paul of Clovis, New Mexico, and Michael Cordova and his wife Patricia Velasquez of Santa Rosa, New Mexico; sister-in-law Nea Cordova of Clovis, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Andalecio Sr. and Vicentita Cordova; sister, Dora Baca and her husband Manuel; brothers, Pete Cordova and his wife Mable, and Pat Cordova; and brother-in-law, Miguel Salazar.
A rosary followed by Mass of Christian burial to honor the lives of Brody and his son Andy will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 439 S 3rd St, Santa Rosa, NM 88435.
