Jose Luis "Pepe" Cuellar

José Luis Cuellar, affectionately known to family and friends as "Pepe" or "Joe," was born on January 7, 1956, in Weslaco, Texas, to Guadalupe and Antonia Cuellar. He attended Weslaco High School. José was baptized at St. John Catholic Church in Weslaco and served faithfully as an altar boy at St. Martin de Porres.
A true jack of all trades, Pepe took pride in his work and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-spending time outdoors, reading his favorite western novels, and watching classic western shows and movies. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially the timeless sounds of oldies-but-goodies and Tejano tunes that often filled his home and heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Guadalupe and Antonia Cuellar; his brother, Guadalupe Cuellar Jr.; and his sister, Martha Garza.
José leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Elijah Blunson of Belton, Texas; five daughters, Christina Hernandez, Toni Salazar (Chris), and Hillary Cuellar, all of Temple, Texas; Dalia Cuellar of Belton, Texas; and Dora Trammell (Bryan) of San Antonio, Texas.
He is also lovingly remembered by his five sisters: Mary Cruz of Dallas, Texas; Angie Butler of Temple, Texas; Nena Semudio (Ricky) and Tere Rodriguez, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Gracie Cuellar (Jose) of Weslaco, Texas.
José's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Pepe's spirit remains-a reminder of the warmth, laughter, and love he shared so freely with all who crossed his path.
