Jose Luis Fuentes Guerra was born November 13, 1945 in Acuna, Mexico and moved to Del Rio, Texas when he was a baby. Here he was able to create special moments with his mother, two sisters, and friends. He would always tell stories about his friends hanging out where they should not have been, playing baseball, and enjoying western cowboy movies. He has since passed as of February 5th of 2024.
After he had served his country in Vietnam, he moved to the Rio Grande Valley and then San Antonio where he worked as a Loan Officer. He was the kind of man who you could go to with your problems and he would always find a way to help. He made sure that the people that went to him knew they had someone fighting for them when no one else would. His drive, work ethic, kindness, and humor will be remembered by all the lives he touched.
When he was not working at the bank he would always enjoy taking his wife out to dance the night away at dance halls. Many stories were created from these dance hall moments but they cannot be shared in this obituary. He would also be with his family barbecuing delicious food not telling anyone his secret recipe (secret recipe still unknown). He would sell sports cards with his son at flea markets and support his daughter in her folkloric dancing.
Once he retired, his hobbies included watching all sports known to man as well as collecting sports memorabilia, telling everyone his dad jokes, attending classic car shows where he would give facts about specific cars and what he would drive when he was younger, and telling stories from his younger days. Most importantly, he enjoyed watching his family grow and thrive. He made sure to always provide for them and ensure they were taken care of.
Jose was an extraordinary Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He is preceded in death by both his mother Maria Fuentes and sister Irma Noyola. Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty-four years Eva, their daughter Angela Guerra, son Joseph B. Guerra, Jess Guerra (daughter in law), Steven Rodriguez (father of Steven Jr. and Gabriella Rodriguez), and his sister Bertha Fuentes. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren Steven Jr, Gabriella, Roslynn, Blue, and Graham Guerra and 3 dogs (Molly, Abby, and Oliver)
Jose leaves behind a life and legacy that will not soon be forgotten. He will be missed dearly by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
