Jose Cruz Hernandez

Jose Cruz Hernandez, 98, of McAdoo passed away peacefully December 6, 2025. Cruz was born July 10, 1927, in Las Liebres, Durango, Mexico to Jesus and Maria Vargas Hernandez. He married Maria Amada Carrera on September 18, 1953, in Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico, she passed away on November 11, 2013. In 1963 he moved his family to Texas where he farmed and ranched and raised 7 children. Cruz was a hard-working man, who loved farming. He loved baseball and fishing. He enjoyed reading, especially history, and he loved John Deere tractors, of which he had an impressive collection.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Jose Cruz Jr., grandson, JJ Pena and several sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters; Maria De Guadalupe and husband Mohammad Dehghan, Isabel Cisneros and husband David, Cathy Hernandez and husband Raymondo Palacios, and Laura Hernandez and husband David Bergstrom, four sons; Jesus Hernandez and wife Melissa, Jorge Hernandez and wife Brenda, Jose Hernandez and wife Jeannie, and Jose Luis and wife Letty; two sisters, Elvira Hernandez and Marta Hernandez and one brother, Jose Guadalupe Hernandez. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
