Jose I. Martinez Perez

José Ignacio Martínez Pérez, fondly known as Nacho or Pelón, 57, of West Haven, CT, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025. He was born on October 29, 1967, in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to the late Ignacio Martínez García and Ma. Isabel Pérez.
He immigrated to the United States when he was 22 years old but would visit Rioverde as much as he could to see his parents that remained there. He loved his homeland but spent most of his life living in Connecticut where he began his own family.
He was a dedicated sales manager at Lakin Tire East, working for the company for over 30 years. He worked in a profession that he enjoyed and was good at, in part because he was a people person and could find a way to connect with just about anyone.
He was generous and giving. If someone he knew needed help, he would always do what he could for them. Every year at Christmas time, he would donate to the children's hospital, St. Jude's or Shriners Hospital, which his two children plan to continue to do in his name. He had a great ability to make you smile and his sense of humor will be missed by all.
Jose lived a vibrant life filled with his love for his family and friends, coaching and playing soccer, and cheering on his favorite team, Club América and the Mexican National team. In recent years, his health rapidly declined, so he enjoyed spending the majority of his free time with the people that he loved and that loved him back. He will be remembered for his honesty, sense of humor, and love for his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Ignacio Martínez García and his brother, Eduardo Javier Martinez Perez.
He is survived by his mother, Ma. Isabel Pérez; his two children, Isabel and Pedro Martinez; his brothers, Juan Carlos Martínez Pérez, and José Luis Martínez Pérez; his sister, Laura Martínez Pérez; his uncle, Alejandro Pérez; and his aunt, Carmen Martínez García. José's memory will be cherished by his family and all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Interment will be on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery, 871 Campbell Ave., West Haven at 10:30 a.m.
