Jose "Joe" L. Molina, 85, of Gonzales, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 27, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1940, to Felix and Josefa Molina. He is survived by his children: Mary Jo Castro of Honolulu, Hawaii, Anita Luna Arriaga (Gilbert) of San Marcos, Texas and Laura Cui (Blaise) of Schertz, Texas. He is also survived by his three brothers, Felix Molina (Aurora) of San Antonio, Texas, Benny Molina (Matilda) of Lake Jackson, Texas and George Molina (Shirley) of Shiner, Texas. He is survived by his one sister Elvia Gallegos (Victor) of San Antonio and was preceded in death by his sister Florentina Torres (Lawrence) of San Antonio. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Popo Joe and Papa Joe, and by his 12 nieces and nephews whom he treasured dearly.
Joe worked as a landscaper for many years; he had an appreciation for nature and all that could be created with his hard work. He enjoyed life and was a friend to many. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and in true Texas spirit, loved a nice pair of cowboy boots and a plaid pearl button shirt. When Joe was younger, he worked alongside his father fixing cars, he appreciated learning the craft and also the time he spent learning from his father. He was most of all, fun-loving with a great sense of humor and was known to most as a classic jokester. Throughout his life, he made many friends, and also many memories with his family, he will be deeply missed by those who got to know him.
On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude towards the staff at the Texan Nursing and Rehab of Gonzales who took care of our father during his final years.
An Interment of Ashes will take place at St. James Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00am.
