Jose E. Oliver, Sr., 70, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born on November 8, 1954, in Cataño, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Reimundo Oliver Allende and Ines Lozada Morales. He is predeceased by his siblings Pedro Oliver Lozada, Elizabeth Gaetan Lozada, and Carmen Cosme Lozada.
Jose grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and worked at Triangle Sports for 42 years. Brooklyn was the place he loved. He loved hanging out on Dean Street at the corner grocery store with his friends drinking his Budweiser beer. Jose loved watching old movies and CNN news. He enjoyed talking politics and playing billiards with the HOP crew. Jose was always filled with joy and laughter. His grace and favor filled the hearts of many.
Jose is survived by his wife and best friend, Lourdes Rios; children, Luz Oliver, Jose E. Oliver Jr., Stephanie Oliver-Luzunaris, Jacqueline Oliver, and Raymundo Oliver; and his grandchildren: Aiva, Jose, and Elijah Oliver, Sean and Jamal Bell, Jayden Reed, Johanni Arce, London and Valentina Luzunaris, Kameron Thomas, Oneida, Janay, and Trinity and Jose Torres and Meilani Colon. He is also survived by siblings Francisca Oliver Lozada, Flora Oliver Lozada, Jorge Cosme Lozada, Jose Cosme Lozada, and Ramona Gaetan Lozada.
This tribute overflows with deep emotion and love, beautifully honoring a father whose presence was nothing short of transformative. It speaks of a man who, with quiet strength and unwavering devotion, gave his all to his family. His sacrifices were made with love, his support was unyielding, and his guidance, though gentle, was the foundation upon which his children stood tall. His laughter brought light to every room, his wisdom provided comfort in times of uncertainty, and his love was a constant, unshakable force. Even now, though he may no longer be physically with them, his spirit continues to embrace them, living on in every cherished memory, in every word of advice that echoes in their hearts, and in the way they carry his legacy forward. His lessons on love, resilience, and integrity are like a roadmap that his children follow, navigating the world with the same strength and grace that he showed them. To them, he was not just a father; he was a superhero, a guide, and a beacon of hope in difficult times. His love was the kind that never faded, that never wavered, and no matter how much time passes, the void left by his absence will never be filled. His family holds him in the highest regard, their love for him never diminishing. He is deeply loved, profoundly missed, and will forever remain an irreplaceable part of their hearts and their lives.
In keeping with the family's wishes, no services will be held at this time.
