In Loving Memory of José Prieto Mendoza José Prieto Mendoza, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 28, in the presence of his family. His final moments were gentle, without pain, surrounded by the love he spent a lifetime nurturing. José was born in 1935 in the small village of Satevó, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the youngest of four brothers and the second to youngest of nine siblings. From an early age, he was a man of the earth - first working alongside his parents on their farm and later establishing his own fields. As a young bachelor, he labored as a bracero in the United States, returning seasonally to Mexico after the birth of his eldest children, until eventually moving his family permanently to Washington State in 1976. Faith and family were the cornerstones of José's life. A devout Catholic, he lived his faith with deep conviction as a Cursillista and as a Eucharistic Guardian. His devotion to Christ was inseparable from his devotion to his family. He bore the responsibility of providing and guiding with humility, dignity, and a compassion that touched all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, S. Paula Prieto, six children, many grandchildren, and a great-grandson. He leaves behind a family shaped by his strength, his sacrifices, and his unwavering example of faith. Though he is already deeply missed, his legacy lives on in every prayer whispered, every act of kindness shown, and every seed of faith sown within his family. Que en Paz descanse.
