It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow to announce the passing of Jose Rios, Jr., age 27, who left us Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jose was born June 7, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Jose Ramon Sr. and Obdulia Gomez Rios.
Jose attended Moapa Valley High School, where he grew up enjoying playing all sports, but shined the brightest under the Friday night lights. He was known for his physical talents, but most notably known for his gift in football, where he was highly respected leading his team to win a state championship in 2014. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family. His personality was fun to be around, and he always made light of every situation. His humor and smile were and will always be engraved in our hearts. His charisma will forever be cherished and missed.
Survivors include his parents, Jose and Obdulia Rios of Moapa Valley; his grandfather, Jose Pilar Rios of Mexico; three brothers and four sisters: Jessica Garcia; Erica (Jose) Garcia-Villa; Steve Garcia of Las Vegas; Eduardo (Toni) Garcia of Cedar City, UT; Yasmin; Leonardo and Gisella Rios all of Moapa Valley. Survivors also include 5 nieces and 3 nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 9 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 2955 N. St. Joseph St., Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2025 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 8 – 8:45 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery.
