Jose A. Rivera

Rivera, Jose A. age 78 of Dover, NJ passed away peacefully Thursday January 1, 2026 at Saint Clares Medical Center Denville, NJ following a brief illness. Born and raised in Anasco, Puerto Rico, Jose has resided in Dover for 60 years.

Son of the late Eugenio Rivera Valentin and Mariana Ramos Careero, Jose was a hard-working loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He held two long careers simultaneously, retiring from the former MCI Optonix Corp. of Morris Plains, NJ, and Anthony's Pizzeria of Rockaway, NJ.

Mr. Rivera was predeceased by his brothers Wilfredo and Hector Rivera. Survivors include his beloved wife Ramonita Agront Rivera, his sons Jose J., Dennis, Omar A. and Xavier Rivera, his cherished granddaughter Reyna Rivera, his sisters Isabel Rivera, Librada Rivera, Lucelenia Rivera, Anna Lydia Rivera, and Maria Estell Rivera, as well as his brother Pedro Rivera.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening January 8, 2026 from 7-9 PM in the Smith-Taylor -Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ. A funeral Mass and burial will be held in Puerto Rico following the visitation. Online condolences through www.smith-taylor-ruggierofuneralhome.com
