Jose Velazco-Nava, 60, de La Porte, Indiana, falleció el domingo 8 de septiembre de 2024 en Northwest Health La Porte.
Nació el 13 de febrero de 1964 en Tecomán, Colima, México, hijo de Antonio Velazco Carbajal y Teresa Nava Villalvazo.
Creció en México, José se graduó de la escuela secundaria y asistió a la universidad, obteniendo su Licenciatura en Contabilidad. Durante 17 años, José fue banquero en México. Su viaje lo llevó a los Estados Unidos en el año 2000, donde se convirtió en un respetado trabajador sindical de la BCTGM Local 1, empleado por Alpha Baking Company, Inc. José era un devoto católico, miembro de la Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia, asistía a la Iglesia Católica de San José en La Porte y a San José Obrero en El Colomo, Colima. José tenía un enfoque vibrante de la vida. Encontraba placer en escuchar música de mariachi, capturar momentos a través de la fotografía y disfrutaba ir de compras. Con un amor por la cocina y una particular afición por la miel, a menudo organizaba reuniones llenas de calidez y risas, preparando su lomo relleno, chilaquiles, tostadas y pipián. Su espíritu sociable y su capacidad para conectar con los demás enriquecieron la vida de muchos, dejando tras de sí recuerdos entrañables de alegres celebraciones. Todos los que le conocieron le echarán de menos.
Le sobreviven sus cuatro hermanas, María Velazco Nava, Rosalina Velazco Nava, Carmela Velazco Nava, Alicia Velazco Nava; cinco hermanos, Felipe Velazco Nava, Raúl Velazco Nava, Miguel Velazco Nava, Guadalupe Velazco Nava, Jesús Velazco Nava y muchas sobrinas, sobrinos y ahijados.
José fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, y hermanos, León Velazco Nava y Gustavo Velazco Nava.
Los arreglos están siendo confiados a Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN donde la familia recibirá amigos para una visita, el domingo 15 de septiembre de 2024, de 7:30 p.m. a 10:30 p.m. La familia ha pedido que todos vistan de blanco, y son bienvenidos a traer comida el día del servicio. José viajará a Colima, México para una misa y su lugar de descanso final.

Jose Velazco-Nava, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday September 8, 2024 at Northwest Health La Porte.
He was born February 13, 1964 in Tecoman, Colima, Mexico, the son of Antonio Velazco Carbajal and Teresa Nava Villalvazo.
Growing up in Mexico, Jose graduated from High School and attended college, obtaining his Bachelor in Accounting degree. For 17 years, Jose was a banker in Mexico. His journey took him to the United States in 2000, where he became a respected union worker for the BCTGM Local 1, employed by Alpha Baking Company, Inc. Jose was a devout catholic, who was a member of the Holy Family Parish, attending St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte and San Jose Obrero in El Colomo, Colima. Jose had a vibrant approach to life. He found pleasure in listening to mariachi music, capturing moments through photography, and enjoyed shopping. With a love for cooking and a particular fondness for honey, he often hosted gatherings filled with warmth and laughter, preparing his lomo relleno, chilaquiles, tostadas and Pipian. His sociable spirit and ability to connect with others enriched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories of joyous celebrations. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his four sisters, Maria Velazco Nava, Rosalina Velazco Nava, Carmela Velazco Nava, Alicia Velazco Nava; five brothers, Felipe Velazco Nava, Raul Velazco Nava, Miguel Velazco Nava, Guadalupe Velazco Nava, Jesus Velazco Nava and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Leon Velazco Nava and Gustavo Velazco Nava.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation, Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Family has requested that everyone to wear white, and are welcome to bring food day of service. Jose will travel to Colima, Mexico for a mass and his final resting place.
