Josef Dickmann

Dear Family and Freinds! Many of you may already be aware of my reason for this post! My father, Josef Dickmann von Braunau am Inn, Austria, born, February 25th, 1928, passed away peacefully in his sleep sometime between the evening of March 21st and the morning of March 22nd! His Spirit left his body to join the Universal Energy Steam! I hope he sees Kat along his journey!

I may be a bit jaded, but my Dad was the best Dad, Opa, grandfather and great grandfather you could ever ask for!

In September of 1956, Dad had the courage to leave his community along the Austrian/Bavarian border, about 40 miles north of Salzburg, to immigrate to Chicago, yes Illinois, with his wonderful wife, Sofia, my sister, Waltraud, and I, to experience the “American Dream” which they managed to fulfill! Times were better then!

For the last 34 years he and my mom built a wonderful life together in their lovely forever retirement home on Maple Lake! There isn’t a square foot of lakeshore that didn’t see a lure cast by Dad as he fished the locations that he learned from another Joe (Opa) that preceded him on this lake! Dad was an integral part of this community, Paw Paw, Michigan, especially this part around Maple Lake! Many a neighbor woke up to the sound of Dad’s lawn mower, cruising around their property! There wasn’t a task too big to help a neighbor with! His community will miss him as much as we do!

I Miss Him, I’m Happy He is no longer suffering, He Lived a Full Life! Love You Dad!
