Dear Family and Freinds! Many of you may already be aware of my reason for this post! My mother, Sophie Maurer Dickmann von Braunau Am Inn, Austria (via Lechnitz, Romania) born, December 14, 1930, passed away peacefully in her sleep sometime between the evening of October 10th and the morning of October 11th! Her Spirit left her body to join her spouse, Josef, in the Universal Energy Steam! I hope she sees Kat along her journey!
I may be a bit jaded, but my Mom was the best Mother, Oma, grandmother and great grandmother you could ever ask for!
Mom overcame many obstacles life threw at her including fleeing the Russian army from her Transylvanian home, via covered wagon, to eventually settle in Braunau Am Inn, Austria!
In September of 1956, she and my dad had the courage to leave their community along the Austrian/Bavarian border, about 40 miles north of Salzburg, to immigrate to Chicago, yes Illinois, with my sister, Waltraud, and I, to experience the "American Dream" which they managed to fulfill! Times were better then!
For the last 34 years she and my dad built a wonderful life together in their lovely forever retirement home on Maple Lake! Most people that knew mom well picture her with knitting needles in her hands, knitting baby hats for the Bronson maternity ward! There are thousands of babies that were warmed by one of mom's hats! Mom was an integral part of this community, Paw Paw, Michigan, especially her contributions to countless bake sales and her work with the Coterie Club charity on behalf of the Paw Paw Library! Her community will miss her as much as we do!
I Miss Her, I'm Happy She is no longer suffering, She Lived a Full Life! Love You Mom
