Josefa Lara Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home - Grand Prairie on Dec. 10, 2025.
Sra. Josefa Lara, beloved mother, abuela, and friend, departed this world peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the age of 87.

Sra. Lara was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Manueles and Rosa Lara of Honduras, as well as two sisters, Lucinda Lara and Blanca Lara, of whom she was the middle child.

She is survived by her two daughters - Maris Banegas of Spain, and Ledan Patricia Radcliff and husband Richard Radcliff of Dallas, Texas; four granddaughters - Carrie Radcliff and husband Kyle Kent of Allen, Texas;

Kara Maris Willingham, Lindsey Leann Willingham, and Lesly Pérez; as well as four great-grandchildren, Mila Kent, Mason Kent, Emery Willingham, and Carson Willingham.

Born in La Paz, Honduras, Josefa Lara worked tirelessly for the banana factory, United Fruit Company, in La Lima, Cortés, for 24 years while raising two daughters on her own, sending both of them for higher education, and finally affording her own home through her hard work for "the Union".

Eventually, Sra. Lara joined her daughter in the United States and became a U.S. Citizen. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter Carrie grow up and became employed for the very special family of Kathleen Jenkins, caring for her son Taylor Jenkins whom she loved and considered her own.

In her retirement years, Josefa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her humble and joyful nature, her wonderful sense of humor, her warm, accepting and welcoming smile, and the light she shared with all who knew her.

May the daily prayers she prayed for all her loved ones continually be heard and answered, now from a closer proximity among the angels and with the Lord God whom she loved.
