In Loving Memory of Josefina Bustillos 1947–2025
It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Josefina (Chepa) Bustillos, age 78, who departed this life peacefully on Sunday, August 24th, in the comfort of her home, cared for by her husband, Ramon Bustillos. Born in Mexico in 1947, Josefina immigrated to New Mexico as a teenager alongside her brothers and sisters who also made New Mexico home. Soon after arriving, she met the love of her life, Ramon Bustillos.
They made their first home in Blanco, New Mexico, where Josefina began building a life rooted in family, faith, and hard work. The two married and shared a devoted partnership that spanned decades—one defined by mutual respect, humor, and unwavering support.
Together, Josefina and Ramon raised two children, Jesus Bustillos and Monica (Bustillos) Martinez, whom she cherished with all her heart. A proud mother and a steady presence, Josefina was the soul of her home—her kitchen always warm, her table always open, and her door always welcoming.
Josefina will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her generous spirit. She loved her family fiercely, honored her traditions, and found joy in the simple moments: tending to her home, celebrating family milestones, and sharing laughter with her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Carrasco Martinez and Modesta Anchondo Terrazas; her brother, Daniel Carrasco; and her sisters, Rosa Atencio and Delia Martin.
Survived by her husband, Ramon Bustillos; her son, Jesus Bustillos; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Bustillos; her daughter, Monica Bustillos; her son-in-law, Paul Martinez; her brothers, Domingo Carrasco, Santos Carrasco, Fernando Carrasco, and Ramon Carrasco; her sisters, Socorro Carrasco, Carmen Carrasco, and Martha Sanchez; and her grandchildren, Cynthia Bustillos-Martinez, Keanu Bustillos, Armando Martinez, Cruz Bustillos, and Cash Bustillos, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Josefina’s legacy lives on in the values she instilled—faith, gratitude, resilience, and love. Her hands worked hard, her heart loved deeply, and her spirit blessed us all. May her memory be eternal, and may she rest in God’s peace.
