Josenel Smith, age 95, left her earthly home to be with her Lord and savior on July 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Goddard and Josenel Knox Goddard. Josenel was a devoted wife to John "Johnny" Edward Smith, for 57 years, until his passing in 2014.
She spent her life caring for others, making sure her family and friends were well taken care of. Josenel was a devout Baptist and a charter member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, since the age of 16. She was a member of the Harmony Quartet, well known for singing on the KARV radio station. Josenel, Wanda Smith, Helen Brown and Martha Schuh sang and went to numerous church conventions with Mr. Henry Blalock. Josenel was also a previous member of the Pope County Home Extension.
She was an amazing mother to her three children, Bill Smith and wife Pam, Nelda Smith Freeman, John Glen Smith and wife Corinne.
She had seven grandchildren, Zack Freeman, Layne James, Dustin Freeman, Amie Zavala, Mason Smith, Josie Smith, and Cora Smith.
Five great grandchildren, JC Freeman, Knox James, Asher Zavala, Amri James and Nelly Freeman.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Russellville Family Funeral. Burial will be private, under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.
