Joseph Achin

Joseph Achin, 86, of Canterbury Woods died Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

Born November 26, 1923 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Antonio and Imelda (Chabot) Achin.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro until moving to Canterbury Woods six months ago. He previously lived at the Riverfront Condominium complex in North Attleboro for nearly eight years and resided most of his life on Arnold Road.

He was a 1942 graduate of North Attleboro High School and served as a Navigator in a US Army Air Corps Bomber Squadron during World War II.

Joseph worked as a toolmaker at Swank and other local companies for over thirty years before retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and in his younger days belonged to several snow skiing clubs. He also loved bowling and spending time with family and friends. Joseph especially enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family.

He is survived by four brothers, Henry, Roger, Gerard and Ronald Achin; two sisters, Doris Jarvis and Theresa Berg and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jeanette Achin, Paul Achin and Alfred Achin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m. Private burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
