Joseph Anthony Alemany, age 46, suddenly passed away on July 14th 2023 in his home in
Washington DC from a congenital heart condition.
Joseph was born on February 20th 1977 to Kathleen and Joseph Alemany in Huntington, NY.
After Joseph graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1995, he went on to study at UMassBoston. In college, Joseph fell in love with performance physiology science. As an athlete and
scholar, he developed a passion for optimizing human physical performance.
Upon receiving a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, Joseph enlisted in the Army in 2001 as a medical
laboratory technician. He subsequently worked as a biological research assistant at the U.S.
Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, MA. Joseph's work focused on
how to help soldiers prepare for military operational stress. In 2011, he earned a Master of
Science degree in Applied Physiology from the University of South Carolina. For 13 years,
Joseph served as a biological research assistant in the Army National Guard in Maryland where
he was rated as "most qualified" and was awarded several achievement medals and
certificates of appreciation.
Over the course of his career, Joseph has authored and contributed to three dozen scientific
publications and presented at numerous conferences. Always advancing his education, he
worked towards a doctorate in health sciences. At the time of his passing, Joseph was a senior
business development manager in the whole health division at Leidos where he continued to
pursue his lifelong goal - optimizing human performance for national security.
He is remembered by his colleagues and family for his exemplary work ethic, sharp analytical
mind, great sense of humor, and kind heart. Joseph loved to help and his volunteering work
touched many people. For over a decade, he volunteered at George Washington University's
Veteran Service Initiative, the 6th Branch, and American Red Cross as a blood drive
coordinator.
Joseph is survived by his three children Joseph, Matthew, and Vivian, his parents Joseph and
Kathleen, and his sister Jennifer.
A Visitation will be held 1-3pm with a 3pm Service, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon blvd, Orange City, Fl 32763. Joseph's final resting place will be at Arlington National
Cemetery where a military service will be held at a later date.

I was and I am still so surprised by his passing. The fondest memories and laughter I can remember in the army was with this highly intelligent, compassionate, caring, and funny man. I'm so heart broken by this news. This world has become a little darker without the light that Alemany brought to those around him. He is and will always be a brother to me.

i am shocked to hear this news. I worked with Joe on a project at Ft. Jackson to improve the healthcare of Soldiers while he was at South Carolina. He was a fantastic researcher and even better person. My prayers go out to his entire family.

Peace and blessings to the Family!

Sergeant (SGT) Alemany was a true Soldier and Leader. He excelled at everything from maxing out his physical fitness tests to teaching Soldiers about DNA. He was the senior medical Lab Sergeant in the Maryland Army National Guard. Sergeant Alemany served with pride and distinction, and was a role model for junior Troops.

I enjoyed listening to him talk and tell stories as he would often add in a joke related to all things medical. He was a friend to many. We, the Soldiers and Veterans will miss him dearly, but we will cherish the memories of working with him.

As the Alemany Family deals with the loss of their loved one, please know that you have gained the support and prayers from Sergeant Alemany's comrades.

Sergeant Alemany peacefully marched into paradise. God saw that Joe's work here on earth was 'Well Done', so he blessed him with his wings to eternal life into the Kingdom of heaven. The passing of Joseph Alemany Jr. without struggle is a testament of his performance, strength, and courage. God did not make him suffer; God allowed him to pave the way as always. Now Joe is waiting for us.

Until we meet again, rest easy my Friend.
