Joseph Cruz Allen, affectionately known as "J," was born on October 28, 1965 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Raphael (Ralph) and Bertha Allen. He was the youngest born to this union. An angel was called, and he entered into eternal rest by the will of the Almighty on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
As a child he was playful, rambunctious, and very strong-willed and work driven. He would often do odd jobs in the neighborhood to try and help his family. After losing his father, he took on the role as "man of the house" and would always be there to help his mother.
He was educated in the Philadelphia school system and worked different jobs to put himself through college.
He met and married his wife, Terry Robinson, on June 28, 2008. She was his heart and soul and would affectionately refer to her as "Sweetheart" or "Honey" and greet her with "Eskimo kisses."
Joseph was a person with his own mind, independent, strong-willed, and determined. He was very courageous when facing obstacles and challenges. He embodied the best of qualities, unconditional love, strength of spirit. His contagious smile and his goofy sense of humor would light up any room he entered. He accepted everyone with an open heart and open arms. His kindness, strength and humility touched everyone who knew him.
He had a passion for cooking and up until he became ill, was training to be a chef, loved animals, and enjoyed taking walks, hiking and going fishing.
He worked as a DJ, lifeguard, and held many customer service positions.
Joseph's life was a testament to his compassionate nature, always putting others before himself; his courage was evident in his "never-give-up" attitude. Always facing adversity head on with a smile.
He was and will forever remain our hero and the wind beneath our wings.
He will be sorrowfully missed and there will always be a void in the hearts of those who loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish fond memories, his wife, Terry, three brothers-in-law, Anthony, Steven and Manny, his sister-in-law, Maria, brother, Enrique (Rico), his mother, Bertha, his daughter, Erica, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. His father, Raphael, and sister, Susan, predeceased him in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Lambie Funeral Home, 8000 Rowland Avenue (at Rhawn Street), with a Home Going Service at 12:00 pm at the funeral Home, followed by his interment in Magnolia Cemetery.
